Wiccan symbols are used in spells and rituals. They represent elements of nature such as the Sun, the Moon, the stars and the Divine Spirit. They were used as sacred codes in rituals, ceremonies and worn as jewelry to protect the practitioner.

The common misconceptions of people who are misinformed about WitchCraft are that these are symbols of negative forces such as the Devil, which, by the way, is a Christian invention. Wiccans and most other pagans do not believe in the imaginary creature called the Devil. They prefer to acknowledge and celebrate the divinity of human beings and everything that surrounds them in a loving, positive manner.

The pentacle is a five pointed star and the most recognizable symbol of the Wicca religion. It may also be called the Witch's foot, the Morning star or the Endless knot. Pythagoras used the Pentacle to represent the human being with the points of the star representing the head, the arms and the legs. The addition of the circle is to unify the body and create a Spirit. The Pentacle represents the five elements of Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit. The pentacle is worn around the neck to protect oneself. In Rituals, one can draw a pentacle in the air above the working space or on the ground with an Athame or sacred knife, or on a piece of paper to be used in the ritual.

The Spirit circle is another symbol used in rituals. In many magickal religions, walking around a person, place or thing is considered auspicious. This sign can also be used in the place of a pentacle. The spirit Circle represents walking or casting of the Ritual circle. Most Wiccan rituals include the act of creating a sacred space and calling the quarters to create and guard the sacred circle for the Witch to work within.
Triple Circle (three circles intertwined) is the symbol used in rituals to call upon and draw power from the Triple Goddess who helps us increase the power of our body, mind and spirit.

Triple Moon (one full moon, one waxing moon, one waning moon) is associated with the Triple Goddess. This symbol also represents the walk of life. During rituals, this symbol may be used anywhere on our altar to symbolize the cycles of birth and death. Also, this symbol is used to signify our great Mother or any Female Deity.

Horned God represents the male aspect of Divinity in Wiccan religion. This symbol is used in rituals which are held to celebrate the male aspect of the Divine. It is used with the Triple Moon symbol sometimes to represent the harmonious union of opposites. This symbol can also be worn as a pendant.

Celtic Cross - The Celtic people celebrate this symbol as representing the moon as well as the Sun. This is used mainly in artwork and in rituals to represent the Goddess and God.

The Sun is represented by a circle with a smaller darkened circle in the center. The Sun is considered a male deity and is called upon during rituals to reinforce our Will and Success. It represents the natural element of Fire and the color associated with it is Gold. The Sun has been worshiped in many cultures through millenniums.

The Moon Symbol is considered the feminine or Goddess and is represented by the Crescent moon. The color associated with Moon is white, silver or blue and the element connected to this symbol is Water which complements the Fire of the Sun. As we all know, nature thrives where the Sun and Water are present. The main energy of the Moon is Emotion and She is called upon by followers in various Wiccan rituals.
